4 Gauge Pre-Workout Review
Ingredients, Benefits & Analysis

Finding a pre-workout supplement can be very difficult. We wanted to find a pre-workout supplement that would help us boost our gym performance without suffering any of the nasty side effects.

Pre-workout drinks can benefit you primarily by increasing your energy, muscular strength, and endurance. However, depending on the brand, some pre-workout drinks are loaded with preservatives, excessive sugar, and unnecessary stimulants.

So we decided to do a 4 Gauge review, as it is highly recommended by bodybuilders and remains ever-popular in the vegan bodybuilding community.

4 Gauge Product

4 Gauge is a pre-workout supplement that is popular with experienced bodybuilders who want to ensure intense muscle pumps and exercise. The product’s container is shaped like a shotgun shell, which I assume is meant to be all “macho” or whatever. Chuck Norris definitely uses these. This product is noted for increasing your endurance and strength when lifting, helping to boost your energy and concentration through lengthy pumping sessions.

The manufacturers of this supplement claim that 4 Gauge will improve your physique, help you progress faster, and lead to amazing workouts.

4 Gauge also has a few active ingredients which separate it from its competitors, such as Rhodiola Rosa, Coconut Water, Creatine Monohydrate, Acetyl-L-Carnitine, Red Beet, and Citrulline Malate.

Users often claim that 4 Gauge has effects on both your mental focus and physical performance, helping you to “keep going” and concentrate intensely.

What Are the Ingredients?

  • 1L-Citrulline Dl-Malate: This ingredient is one of the stronger vasodilators known to science, meaning that it naturally opens up your blood vessels and gives more space for blood to flow to your muscles quickly, helping with muscle gains.
  • 2Caffeine: Caffeine helps to improve your physical energy and mental performance, and 4 Gauge contains a modest serving (150mg) which won’t give you the jitters.
  • 3L-Theanine: This component is extracted from green tea leaves and is essentially the yin to caffeine’s yang. L-Theanine helps to keep you grounded and enhances your energy in a calm manner.
  • 4Rhodiola Rosea: This European herb has been shown to improve athletic endurance in clinical studies, and has even been known to treat depression and fatigue.
  • 5Red Beet (Beta Vulgaris): This nitric oxide booster helps to boost your stamina and results in the gym, making it easier to achieve your fitness goals. One study with a group of soccer players found that it helped to enhance the performance of intermittent exercise
  • 6Creatine Monohydrate: If you live in the world of bodybuilding, you’ll always be hearing about things like caffeine anhydrous and creatine monohydrate. This ingredient helps with performance and even has neuroprotective effects too.
  • 7Acetyl-L-Carnitine: This amino acid helps with fat burning and boosting energy.
  • 8Coconut Water: Coconut water is filled with nutrients that help restore electrolytes and increase hydration, (see sparkling Water).

4 Gauge Benefits

Muscle man doing dips

The folks over at Roar Ambition (great company name) have created a pre-workout supplement that contains natural ingredients that provide an energy boost and make muscle gains easier to attain (best non-steroidal for muscle growth). There’s a bunch of good and science-backed ingredients in this product, all of which help you to increase energy and focus when pumping. Furthermore, it’s only 5 calories per serving, so it’s great for those on dietary restrictions or weight loss diets. You can read all the dosages of each ingredient on the bottle, so you know exactly what you’re getting into and you can compare the doses with other products. For example, if you’re sensitive to caffeine, you can see exactly how much caffeine is in this compared to other products.4 Gauge reviewers will naturally disagree about things like taste, but we found the flavors to be very nice, especially considering that they use healthy natural plant-based sweeteners.

Pros:

4 Gauge Side Effects

Caffeine Structure

Admittedly, I found little to no side effects from using 4 Gauge, and looking at some other people’s 4 Gauge reviews, it seems like I’m not the only one who struggled to find any significant downsides to this supplement.I suppose one thing is that if you’re allergic to caffeine, then you should be steering clear of this product, as it contains a fair amount of caffeine anhydrous.Nonetheless, it has a more modest amount of caffeine than some other supplements, so you can rest assured that your heart won’t be pounding out of your chest like you just downed 10 espressos in a row.

Cons:

  • Contains a fair amount of caffeine
  • Quite expensive compared to competing supplements
  • Can only be bought via the manufacturer’s website

How Much Does 4 Gauge Cost?

1 “round” of 4 Guage (i.e. one bottle) is currently $45.00 USD on the company’s website. 1 round contains 20 servings, providing you with enough boost for a good few weeks at the gym!

They also have a Two Round package where you get 2 bottles for $90 USD with free shipping. If you’re looking to order in bulk and save money, then the company offers the “Ultimate Ammo Crate” package for $135.00.

What Do Other People Think About 4 Gauge?

I’ve been bodybuilding for a very long time, so naturally, I’ve tried a bunch of different pre-workout products that claim to improve your glycogen, enhance your energy, boost your testosterone, and do a whole load of other things. 4 Gauge contains some very interesting ingredients, which the manufacturer claims are all-natural, and I actually did find them to be quite effective for me. The main plus for me is the inclusion of Rhodiola Rosa, which you can definitely feel making a difference to your endurance in those longer sessions where I push myself perhaps a little harder than I should. Not the world’s best supplement but definitely worth trying.

So many of these kinds of supplements are crammed full of caffeine, with caffeine doing a lot of the heavy lifting (literally) for all the supposed energy boosters and focus enhancers. Downing copious amounts of caffeine would lead to me having problems with jitters and irregular heartbeat at the gym, which is very scary if you’re not used to it.

For example, I would find my heartbeat speeding up and slowing down indiscriminately while I was pumping… it was really scary. However, the caffeine content in 4 Gauge is a great amount for me – it leaves me feeling energized and focused without feeling like I’m about the keel over and die!

I’ve been trying to lose weight and eat a healthy diet while gaining muscle in the gym, so I decided to give 4 Gauge a try. It’s only 5 calories per serving, so I can basically disregard it as nothing and it fits into the nutrition guidelines of my diet very easily.I’m always switching between different weight loss and muscle toning programs, so it’s a little hard to give you accurate results for this product, but I can tell you that I’ve been feeling more full of beans since I started using this, if you know what I mean. Even on days where I’ve slept poorly the night before, I whip out my shotgun shell bottle and down some of this bad boy – it gets me through the session despite my resistance to exercise.

As a personal trainer, I need a supplement (see also ‘How to Take Ibutamoren (MK-677)‘) which I can recommend to my clients en masse. This means that it ideally has to be full of natural healthy ingredients – I don’t wanna be filling their bodies up with artificial shit. I also look for things which have as few allergens in them as possible, because it’s very possible that clients that be allergic/sensitive to things and not know it.

For me, 4 Gauge managed to tick all of these boxes, and then some. 4 Gauge is a great go-to preworkout product which I can recommend to my clients if they want to see results and increased stamina in their sessions, whether they’re with me or on their own. From what they’ve told me, it sounds like most of them will be writing good reviews of their own.

I have some gripes with this product. It’s full of awesome ingredients, which I can’t deny, but it’s so bloody expensive that I can’t afford to keep on top of it. Although I like it, I’ve had to mix it into a rotating carousel of cheaper pre supplements because it’s so pricey to buy, even if you’re buying in bulk.

If you’re the kind of person who goes to the gym several times a week and who is looking to make consistent muscle gains (see also our take on SARMs), then you might wanna consider one of their competitors unless you’ve got a shit ton of disposable income to go round. That or do what I do and use it in conjunction with other powders. Anyway, it is a proper good product; I just wish they lowered the price a little.

A lot of preworkouts load you up with so much energy that you can’t get to sleep that night, especially if you tend to go gym early in the evening as I do. But I found that 4 Gauge actually has the perfect balance of focus and energy, giving me the performance I need in my gym session without going overboard.

I think that a lot of manufacturers think that more = better, but Roar Ambition seem to understand that it’s all about balance when it comes to a before-workout supplement, and I proper appreciate the restraint that they’ve shown when making this formula.

I’ve also done a little googling of the ingredients in this powder (Rhodiola Rosa, Citrulline Malate, Acetyl L-Carnitine, Nitric Oxide etc.) and it seems like behind the fancy scientific names, there’s actually a load of substance and nutrients. Would recommend although it’s a tad pricey.

Does 4 Gauge Really Work? My Personal Experience

In my personal experience, 4 Gauge is a decent product that does indeed work, leading to improved strength and endurance.

The first time I used it, I was able to get out 2 more extra reps from what I was usually used to. Maybe it’s because I’m getting stronger, but most likely it’s from this pre-workout (see also ‘Gorilla Mode Pre-Workout Review (2022)‘).

I love that all the ingredients are natural, and it doesn’t try to hide behind so-called “proprietary blends.”

The only real downside is that it’s a little on the pricey side, but in my opinion, it’s definitely worth it and you really get what you pay for – a quality clean pre-workout (see also ‘ How Long Does a Pre-Workout Last? ‘).

This nutritious pre-workout powder could be just the thing you need to boost your gym game that little bit further.

This is a yes from me.
