Ghost BCAA Review: Understanding the Pros and Cons

Ghost Lifestyle launched in 2016 to transform people’s workouts through high-quality supplements. Their EAA supplement is a second, vegan-friendly version of their first Ghost EAA product.

Ghost EAA is unique because it combines essential amino acids (EAAs) with ingredients to increase their absorption and hydration.

You likely won’t get bored of Ghost EAA’s many flavor choices, although each has a different nutrition profile, and some people find these products sweet.

This Ghost EAA review will offer an unbiased look at the advantages and disadvantages of incorporating this supplement into your workout routine.

Ghost EAA Overview

Table of Contents

Ghost EAA, which officially goes by the name Ghost Amino, is a unique EAA supplement because it combines 10 grams of EAAs with AstraGin and ingredients to enhance hydration.

Below is an overview of the benefits and downsides of using this product.

Pros

  • Vegan-friendly
  • Free of gluten and soy
  • Many flavor choices
  • Masks EAA flavor well
  • Ingredients for improved hydration
  • AstraGin to enhance absorption
  • 4:1:1 balance of BCAAs
  • Low to no sugar
  • Low to no calories
  • Low carb (2 grams or less)In the past, Ghost’s EAA supplement wasn’t vegan-friendly. They’ve since revamped their formula to contain vegan fermented amino acids. No compromising went into the flavor profile of these supplements, though. Ghost EAA offers six appealing flavors, including:

  • Mango
  • Grape
  • Ocean Water
  • Blue Raspberry
  • Cherry Limeade
  • Sour Green Apple

Many EAA supplements fall short of having an appealing taste, given that EAAs have a strong flavor. But we analyzed customers’ reactions to Ghost Amino EAA’s flavor profile and found that most people were pleasantly surprised. We agree with their response.

Unlike the earlier version of Ghost EAA, version two contains the ingredients like organic raw coconut water, taurine, and Aquamin, which support hydration and the quality of EAA absorption.

We’ll talk more about the ingredient breakdown shortly. But for now, know that you’ll receive a 4:1:1 ratio of the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine per serving. These EAAs support muscle building and endurance.

Ghost EAA is also ideal for people watching their calorie, carbohydrate, and sugar intake, as this supplement is low in all three of them.

Cons

Although Ghost Amino EAA has a lot of positive qualities, no supplement is perfect. So, below are some areas where we believe they could improve.

  • Contains artificial flavors
  • Each flavor has different macronutrient amounts
  • On the expensive side for an EAA supplement
  • It can sit a bit heavy in the stomach

All it takes is a glance at Ghost EAA’s flashy, colorful container to realize that this isn’t a supplement you’d likely find at an all-natural food store. Although it contains vegan fermented amino acids, it has unnatural ingredients like artificial flavors.

Furthermore, some say it sits a bit heavy in their stomachs after drinking Ghost EAA. That could be because, while it’s possible to purchase sugar-free flavors of this supplement (like Cherry Limeade and Ocean Water), most flavors have 0.5 grams of sugar per serving.

Given that each scoop is small, this can add up to an excessively sweet taste for people who don’t consume lots of sugary products.

That leads us to our next point—although all of Ghost Amino EAA’s flavor varieties have the same amount of amino acids, their macronutrient content varies. For example, the Cherry Limeade flavor has two grams of carbs, whereas the Mango flavor has less than one gram.

Admittedly, the differences are minor, so they likely won’t impact your decision of which flavor to purchase unless you’re being ultra-strict with your macronutrient intake.

Finally, the cost is another factor to consider. Ghost has an excellent reputation in the supplement space. However, that, coupled with their unique flavors and ability to hide the EAA taste well, makes this a relatively more expensive product.GHOST BCAA Amino Acids, Sour Patch Kids Watermelon - 30 Servings - Sugar-Free Intra and Post Workout Powder & Recovery Drink, 7g BCAA – Supports Muscle Growth & Endurance- Soy & Gluten-Free, Vegan

Ingredients

One of the most beneficial parts of this Ghost EAA review is understanding how its active ingredients impact your health and workout performance. Let’s explore them.

L-Threonine

L-Threonine is an EAA that helps build collagen and elastin. It also reduces the risk of fat buildup in your liver. People working out for weight loss will appreciate that it helps metabolize fat. Studies even show that L-Threonine can help reduce the feeling of anxiety and depression.

L-Phenylalanine

Doctors use L-Phenylalanine to treat chronic pain, so consuming this amino acid could help decrease the pain you’ll feel in your muscles after a workout. L-Phenylalanine is also helpful for reducing the appearance of vitiligo.

L-Lysine

L-Lysine is crucial for helping the body form collagen, which builds tendons and cartilage. It also plays a significant role in muscle growth and producing carnitine, which turns fatty acids into energy. You may even experience lower cholesterol by incorporating L-Lysine with a healthy diet.

L-Methionine

L-Methionine does an excellent job of protecting tissues from damage—something that naturally happens when you exercise. It can also help you keep a healthy immune system by preventing viral infections and maintaining a healthy liver.

L-Histidine

If your goal is faster tissue repair and growth, L-Histidine can help you get there. It also protects your tissues from dangerous toxins like heavy metals and radiation. Furthermore, L-Histidine supports a healthy immune system, sexual functions, and nerve cells.

L-Tryptophan

You may have heard of L-Tryptophan because it produces serotonin, a hormone that turkey contains a lot of, causing people to become sleepy after they eat it. But L-Tryptophan does more than help people sleep; it’s also essential for proper organ function.

L-Leucine (BCAA)

Ghost EAA contains a whopping 3,000 milligrams of L-Leucine, among the essential EAAs for muscle growth and repair. It prevents protein in the muscles from breaking down after undergoing stress (such as lifting weights).

L-Isoleucine (BCAA)

The 750 milligrams of L-Isoleucine you’ll receive from Ghost EAA will help detoxify your body from nitrogenous wastes, improve energy levels, and regulate blood sugar. You’ll find L-Isoleucine in the highest concentration in muscles compared to elsewhere in the body.

L-Valine (BCAA)

Ghost EAA also has 750 milligrams of L-Valine, the third component of BCAAs. L-Valine is responsible for supporting muscle coordination and mental vigor, helping you work out for longer. It also helps with muscle growth and tissue repair.GHOST BCAA Amino Acids, Sour Patch Kids Watermelon - 30 Servings - Sugar-Free Intra and Post Workout Powder & Recovery Drink, 7g BCAA – Supports Muscle...

Hydration Ingredients

We all know hydration is vital for the body, but did you know it helps lubricate your joints? Furthermore, your body won’t have the stamina to perform without sufficient hydration.

The three hydrating ingredients in Ghost EAA include:

  • Taurine
  • Aquamin
  • Raw coconut water

Although the jury is still out on taurine, some believe it could improve athletic performance and endurance. Meanwhile, Aquamin is a product that comes from trace minerals in red marine algae.

Finally, since coconut water contains potassium, sodium, and magnesium, it’s an excellent electrolyte hydrator.

AstraGin

AstraGin is a patented compound that supports improved nutrient absorption. Therefore, by including AstraGin in its formula, Ghost helps your body better absorb the EAAs and hydration ingredients we described above.

You may also experience a healthier gut lining as a result of consuming AstraGin, which can promote a reduction of inflammation in your intestines.

Like most supplements, Ghost EAA comes with a scooper so you can ration out your portions. However, to receive the full 5.5-gram EAAs and 4.5-gram EAAs they advertise, you must use two scoops.

You’ll need to mix it with the liquid of your choice, although plain water is often best, given that this supplement already has a strong flavor profile.

Some people enjoy mixing it with their pre or post-workout recovery drink, especially if the beverage is flavorless.

Ghost EAA markets their supplement as suitable to take at any time of day or night, though. Studies suggest that it doesn’t matter if you take amino acid-rich protein supplements before or after a workout; the anabolic window to improve muscular response is wider than initially believed.GHOST BCAA Amino Acids, Sour Patch Kids Watermelon - 30 Servings - Sugar-Free Intra and Post Workout Powder & Recovery Drink, 7g BCAA – Supports Muscle...

Who Is Ghost EAA For?

Ghost EAA is for people looking to increase their muscular strength and overall fitness performance. You don’t need to be a bodybuilder to benefit from EAA.

Even the casual gym-goer could notice improvements in strength and performance if they take Ghost EAA regularly.

That said, most people—especially carnivores—can get their complete set of EAAs from food. Even vegans can get all their EAAs from plant-based sources. So, diet plays a role in how vital an EAA supplement is for your exercise routine.who is ghost BCAA for?

Conclusion

Not everyone will love this supplement’s sweetness, but Ghost does an excellent job of masking what is usually a potent EAA flavor. Of course, costs will be another consideration you’ll need to make as you decide whether this is the ideal supplement.
