Deva Vegan Multivitamin Review
Everything You Need To Know

The probable biggest downside of going vegan is that it becomes challenging to obtain your recommended daily nutrition entirely from whole food sources. This explains why supplementation and multivitamins are a necessity among certain vegan society groups.

Fortunately, there are lots of quality products in the market – but the question that hangs in the air is this: which brand can give the best results?

In this review, we will be examining a vegan multivitamin mineral supplement from Deva, another brand with an excellent reputation that promises sufficient nourishment per serving.

But is it truly the best? Let’s find out.

What Makes Deva Vegan Multivitamin Different?

deva vegan multivitamin product

Deva Multivitamin provides a vast range of essential ingredients. More importantly, it does so at levels that either meet or exceed the recommended daily value. 17 out of the 22 ingredients are measured at 100% of your Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA), while 7 of those are more than 200%.

If we examine the Vitamin B12 for instance, you’ll see that it is at 1666% of the RDA. This is to ensure a reasonable absorption rate. For a vegan multivitamin, this is particularly important due to the lack of available sources in the vegan diet. [1]

As long as you regularly eat fruit and vegetables, you will be getting most vitamins in decent amounts, such as vitamin D, vitamin C, and iron. Unfortunately, vitamin D in this veg multivitamin is found in the D2 form, which is showed to be less effective than the D3 form. [2]

If, however, you are getting enough iron from your meals, the pills are also available in its iron-free edition. Something to bear in mind concerning vegan multivitamins is that iron overload can be toxic and cause some pretty severe health complications. [3]

“Most people can get all the vitamins and minerals they need by following a healthy, balanced diet. It’s better to aim for a healthy diet rather than relying on supplements, as this will provide you with other nutrients and elements your body needs too.”

-Paul McArdle, RD.

All of the nutrition in the Deva multivitamin comes from plant-based whole food sources, and they list the information about the vegetable blend clearly on the label. This includes:

Spirulina (microalgae), Alfalfa (leaf), Ashwagandha (root), Black Cumin (seed), Broccoli (whole), Carrot (root), Chamomile (flower), Chlorella (broken-cell microalgae), Cinnamon (bark), Dandelion (root), Ginger (root), Parsley (leaf), Rose Hips (fruit), Eleuthero (root), Spinach (leaf).

No aminal products are used, and they also list the ingredients used in the easy to swallow coating and capsule. These are:

Cellulose, Croscarmellose Sodium, Vegetable Stearic Acid, Vegetable Magnesium Stearate, Silica, Chlorophyll Coating.

PROS
  • Easy to swallow penny-sized coated tablets or pills
  • Sourced entirely from plant-based whole food sources
  • Provides 100% RDA of important hard to source vegan nutrients
  • Easy to purchase in stores or online
CONS
  • Not the cheapest multivitamin on the market and can be out of budget for some
  • Vitamin D is in D2 form instead of D3, which is more effective

Side Effects

side effects

There are no unwanted side effects to using a Deva multivitamin. However, you should be careful to monitor your nutrition, so you don’t end up over-exceeding the RDA for certain nutrients.

Due to B12’s low absorption rate, the Deva multivitamin delivers this vitamin in great amounts. Any extra unabsorbed content will be excreted in your pee.

This has been known to change your urine color into bright greenish but it doesn’t cause any real harm. Just be prepared from some Incredible Hulk bathroom moments!

Where To Buy Deva Multivitamin

deva vegan multivitamin product

Deva is a popular brand and is available over the counter in pharmacies.

Like most vitamins, it might be more convenient to order online and have it shipped to your address.

In such cases, we’d recommend buying directly from the companies website to ensure product quality.

Should You Buy Deva Vegan Multivitamin?

Deva Nutrition is a great company committed to disusing animal products and producing supplementation that fills in any gaps in the vegan dietary regime. Still, in my opinion, it’s not the best vegan multivitamin tablet there is.

I want my multivitamin to guarantee top-notch results. I want to be sure that I’m getting everything I need to keep my body and mind working at peak performance. I want science-backed ingredients and a company that is committed to always updating and reformulating its products.

That’s why when it comes to my multivitamin, I choose NutriGenesis from Performance Lab. (Check out our full review)

Don’t get me wrong, Deva is a quality multivitamin, but you can see the cracks in the formula when it comes to using the D2 form of vitamin D instead of D3. It’s a bit suboptimal in certain instances and makes me wonder how much of the other ingredients and doses are in there as well.

There is also the fact that it’s a one size fits all product, whereas NutriGenesis has two different products tailored to meet the specific nutritional needs of the male and female bodies, respectively.

I’ll stick with NutriGenesis for now, and I won’t be missing the bright green pee anytime soon.
