I’ve tried a lot of vegan protein powders in my time. A lot of them either didn’t taste great or were too expensive.
I needed something affordable, provided the nutrition that I needed, and was also vegan-friendly. Vega was just the answer I was looking for in a protein powder.
It was created by a fellow athlete (see also our article on Mike Tyson) who believes in the power of healthy plant nutrition. I did a lot of research before trying Vega Protein and Greens. Now I want to review what I learned about the Vega company and products.
*Keep reading to find out which protein powder we recommend over Vega One.*
Vega Protein Powder (see also ‘Vega Sport Protein Review‘) was designed for those who want plant-based nutrition. It uses clean ingredients. Vega is committed to transparency in its ingredients. There are a lot of benefits to choosing a plant protein powder versus something like whey. Let’s review a few key benefits:
The Vega One Organic All-in-One Shake can also be used as a meal replacement option. It has nutrient-dense foods to take the place of a meal.
Not all of the protein powders are nutrient-dense enough for this, so be sure to double-check the nutritional label. If you want to lose weight, then ask a healthcare professional if this is a good option for you. For more on meal replacement shakes, be sure to check out our guide here. The company is also known for being environment friendly, as Vega is part of the B Corp Movement. They are committed to strict standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Vega has accomplished this by using certified sustainable (sustainable clothing) cocoa, non-GMO certified ingredients, and certified sustainable palm kernel oil.
Vega Protein Powder has a wide variety of products, so each one is a little different. Vega makes this simple though with a “dietary preference” filter on their website. You can choose what you need:
All of their recipes come from vegan-friendly ingredients and is great for everyday nutrition and for workout nutrition.
.
You may find products with only one protein source, but it’s more likely that you will find a blend of them.
This is due to the fact not many plants are a complete protein by themselves. Blending a mixture of different plant proteins can help ensure that you are getting all the amino acids that you need.
For example, Vega Protein and Greens combines pea, brown rice, and sacha inchi protein.Let me review the nutrition facts of the different plant-proteins.
When you take a look at the Vega products, refer back to this list and see if there is anything that you specifically want from your protein sources.
The protein ranges from 15 to 25 grams. How much protein you need is dependent on many factors. As a general rule, you need 0.36 grams per body pound.
This could increase if you are physically active. Discussing how much you need with a healthcare professional may be beneficial for you.
Sugar can range from 0 to 2 grams of sugar in each serving. It’s important to look into what kind of sugar a protein powder uses. Vega chooses stevia because they think it’s the best no-calorie sweetener.
If you’re not a fan of stevia, then don’t pass on it yet. Vega also offers choices that are not sweetened by Stevia.
Vega is working on transitioning more of its products to be USDA Organic certified. In the meantime, they offer a few organic products like the Vega One Organic All-in-One Shake.
Vega Protein Powder comes in a wide variety of natural flavors, and it’s easy to find a flavor that makes your taste buds excited. If you hate flavors, then you can also choose a plain unsweetened option.
Otherwise, here’s a quick look at some of the flavors they offer:
The best part about Vega Protein Powder is that it was meant for people living the vegan lifestyle. They have a wide range of options if you have another dietary consideration like gluten-free (see also ‘ Eating Gluten Free as a Vegan ‘), nut-free, Keto-friendly, and unsweetened powder.
It’s also a great option for those who are allergic to dairy. It’s also a great option if you are looking to build muscle. Plant protein can be just as effective as whey protein. If you are looking to lose weight, then Vega may work. It can help meet your protein and nutritional needs while also aiding lean muscle growth. Using the right protein powder, diet, and fitness routine are all helpful in losing unwanted body fat.
You can take Vega Protein Powder the same as any other protein powder. Depending on your nutritional needs, you may opt to have a protein shake after your fitness routine. Protein helps with muscle growth and recovery after a workout.
If you are looking for help with weight loss, then you can also choose to have protein shakes or smoothies for breakfast at home. It will help you stay full and avoid snacking in between meals.
According to my research, some people do experience stomach problems when taking protein powder.
You could also risk gaining some weight if you eat too much protein due to the excess calories.
Some of my clients like Vega Protein and Greens because it has 20 grams of protein and contains lots of other plant-based nutrition.
According to my research, there are a few people who also vouch for it. Let’s take a look at Vega Protein Powder reviews to see the highlights.
“I’ve used this as both a pre and post workout drink, and it’s been very effective for me! And the fact it’s delicious doesn’t hurt at all. I also love that it is vegan and free of so many potential food allergens. I will continue to buy this product, and recommend it!”

“If you are looking to lose weight, then protein powder (see also ‘Best Unflavored Protein Powder‘) can help you with that. It can curb cravings and keep you feeling full. It prevents over-snacking or having large portions of dinner at home.”
There are lots of things to consider before choosing the right protein powder for you. Even if you decide that Vega is the right brand for you, they still have many options to choose from in their line. Ask yourself these questions to determine which protein powder (see also ‘Olly Protein Powder Reviews‘) will best serve you.
If you think that your diet doesn’t give you enough protein, then a protein supplement (see also ‘Truvani Supplements Review‘) is great for achieving your nutritional goals. Vega One Protein Powder may be a way to help get the nutrients that your body needs to succeed. It tastes fine and contains purely plant-based protein.
However, I feel there are better vegan options out there with higher quality vegan protein.
A product that I can personally vouch for is, Transparent Labs.
It’s packed with more protein content and less calories per serving and is reasonably priced.
Among the many vegan protein powders (see also ‘3 Easy To Make DIY Homemade Vegan Protein Powders‘) we’ve reviewed in Vegan Liftz, the team unanimously agreed that it’s the best.
